MYDIN, first hypermarket in Malaysia to offer ShopeePay for contactless payment option

Homegrown wholesale and retail chain, Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (MYDIN) now offers ShopeePay at its retail outlets nationwide, making it the first hypermarket in the country to do so.

The strategic collaboration between MYDIN and mobile wallet ShopeePay provides a new contactless payment option for MYDIN shoppers with aims to increase payment efficiency and encourage contactless payment amidst worrying times.

With the current trend of over thousands of transactions across our outlets, allowing ShopeePay as a payment method will help speed up the process when compared to paying cash over the counter. Where systems are in place, it will also minimise the chance of human error.

We are doing our best to break the chain of Covid- 19. Contactless payment, most importantly is an effective precautionary measure to minimise the contact and protect our staff and customers in stores.

Datuk Wira (Dr.) Hj Ameer Ali Mydin, Managing Director of MYDIN

To commemorate this partnership, MYDIN shoppers will enjoy a one-time special RM4 cashback when they spend at least RM10 and pay with ShopeePay at any MYDIN retail outlets from now to 28 February 2021, or until it is fully redeemed. Shoppers also stand to receive RM3 cashback daily on their subsequent purchase at any branch when they spend a minimum of RM15 in a single transaction.

Additionally, first-time ShopeePay users will receive an RM8 voucher when they complete their first transaction with a minimum spend of RM25.

With the current conditions, everyone is striving to do all that they can to ensure safety and security, and this includes the customers and staff in the retail sector. As such, it is timely that businesses adopt contactless payments, such as using ShopeePay, as a measure to further minimise risk.

With rewards in place like the cashback, this will also speed up the adoption of contactless payment as aligned with the nation’s vision towards a cashless society.
