McDonald’s Malaysia contributes COVID-19 prevention messages in schools

The #KitaJagaKita programme will reach more than 35,000 students in the Klang Valley

McDonald’s Malaysia, the Federal Territory Education Department, and the Selangor State Education Department are working together through the #KitaJagaKita programme to share COVID-19 prevention messages in schools. The programme will reach more than 35,000 students from 30 selected schools around the Klang Valley, located in close proximity to McDonald’s restaurants.

The launch ceremony of the #KitaJagaKita programme which was held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Keramat Wangsa, Kuala Lumpur yesterday will see McDonald’s Malaysia contributing more than 1,000 COVID-19 prevention messages to be placed within the schools’ vicinity. These messages which are in the form of posters, billboards, and stickers, are designed to create awareness on safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This initiative is our way of supporting the continuous effort of the government in preventing the spread of COVID-19. As a leading quick service restaurant chain, we want to positively impact the community where we operate in. We hope our contribution will enhance the #KitaJagaKita spirit among students, teachers, parents, and the school management to care for each other. Let us all remember that by working together we can be safe from this virus.
Hajjah Melati Abdul Hai, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Malaysia

The school is very appreciative of the contribution made by McDonald’s Malaysia. This is an important enhancement for us, especially to educate and remind students about the importance of adopting safe practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19. I am hopeful that the students will adhere to the safety practices as displayed in the messages.
Mustapa Kamal bin Musa, Principal of SMK Keramat Wangsa, Kuala Lumpur

In addition to highlighting the importance of obeying instructions from teachers, the prevention messages from McDonald’s Malaysia also emphasise the practice of physical distancing, washing hands, wearing face masks, and body temperature checks. COVID-19 prevention messages sponsored by McDonald’s Malaysia are placed in stages beginning in August and throughout September.

The contribution of these COVID-19 prevention messages is a relief for parents as these messages are displayed around the school compound. There is no doubt that there are concerns each time our children go to school. They need to be constantly reminded; sometimes when they are having fun with their friends, they tend to forget our reminders. Teachers play an important role in ensuring that all safety measures are adhered to.
Major General (Retired) Dato' Ahmad Hadiatullah Maknun bin Haji Ridzuan, President of the Parents-Teachers Association of SMK Keramat Wangsa, Kuala Lumpur
